GREAT GARDENERS!
Head Start, Ramsey
A busy week at Head Start! The children have been exploring the garden, digging, planting beans, tasting broad beans and picking apples off the tree to see if they are ready.
Turns out, not yet – we have to let them grow, but our strawberries are nearly ready to pick and eat.
The children made lavender play-dough and designed their own sunflowers for our window display.
The children also celebrated Independence Day on 4 July by creating their own firework pictures.
They are all still fascinated by the caterpillars and bugs they find in our garden – and so to follow their interest we are continuing to watch and learn about our caterpillars and bugs.
Our babies this week have enjoyed lots of coloured water play, painting, dancing, singing nursery rhymes and looking at books.
CHOC-TASTIC!
The Appletree, Attleborough
Bramley Room had fun exploring all things chocolate for World Chocolate Day recently.
We had a great time moulding and constructing with chocolate-flavoured play-dough, then watched a short documentary about cocoa beans and even made chocolate cornflake cakes.
Pippins had a go making their own chocolate rice cakes – they put rice snaps in their own little bowls and mixed in some Betty Crocker chocolate icing. Some of us decided to try it before we put the mix in the cupcake cases!
Well done, everyone – I wonder what chocolatey adventures you can get up to at home?
EMOTIONAL!
The Beacon, Rendlesham
Continuing with the Toddlers’ Emotions theme, they were tasked with creating faces using the painted logs.
They enjoyed making silly faces and spoke about how they made them laugh and feel happy, offering them the opportunity to explore and think about their own emotions during the activity.
They also explored mark making by trying to draw their own happy faces in the glitter.
Our emotion balloons were also a prominent feature in the children’s play.
MARVELLOUS MOUTHS!
The Cornerstone, Martlesham
The Pre-Schoolers have been learning about how to look after their teeth. We discussed as a group about how to care for our teeth and how to keep our mouths healthy.
Each child took turns brushing the chalk off the designated tooth – and used a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean them.
We then proceeded to use our brushing skills, by using a toothbrush to clean numbers off the teeth.
Each child was put into a group where they all got the chance to listen to the number being called out and brushed the number away.
Each child showed amazing control in using a toothbrush and was able to name parts of the mouth such as gums and tongue.
