Your weekly round-up of news from around our wonderful Golden Apples Family nurseries is here!
KRISPIE COMFORT!
To top off a week discussing healthy living and eating, the children were treated to making some chocolate krispie and cornflake cakes. Life is all about balance, after all!
WE CAN BE HEROES!
The Beacon, Rendlesham
The topic for this week is superheroes!
So far, Pre-School have focused on the superheroes we see in everyday life, such as doctors and firemen!
Spider-Man also paid a visit to nursery, leaving a very sticky web for the children to play in.
We also practised our mark-making skills and created our own superhero powers!
AWESOME AUTUMN!
The Appletree, Attleborough
This week we started our topic, Autumn.
The Russet children enjoyed weighing conkers they collected with scales, using mathematical language such as heavy and light and numbers – thinking about how many conkers we could fit into the scales.
The children carried buckets and baskets outside to collect special treasures to make some lovely autumnal pictures.
Bramley Room also made the most of our conker collection, pouring, filling and weighing conkers.
The children filled the scales with comments and then emptied them into multiple containers. This also supports mathematical development helps and fine motor skills.
FRUIT FUN!
The Cornerstone, Martlesham
The Pre-Schoolers cut up all the fruit salad for everyone's tea!
SINK OR FLOAT!
The Pre-Schoolers learnt about making predictions and what is likely to float on or sink in water and why. We found lots of objects from around the room and took turns to make a prediction. We placed our object in the water to see what happens.
OCTOBER IS HERE!
The Anchor, Huntingdon
We got ready for autumn this week at The Anchor, starting with a visit to our forest to collect some leaves to add to our activities.
Happy October!
xxxx!
Head Start, Ramsey
We continued with our All About Me top and discussed our pets and animals.
The children role-played being a vet and how to look after them. They engaged in conversation about their own pets and also animals they like.
They did a craft activity of gluing, painting and sticking to make a pet of their choice.
The children also learnt about the harvesting of crops from carrots, potatoes, onions, beetroot and wheat. We did a show-and-tell of different crops for them to explore.
The children also enjoyed a story called Driving My Tractor, using their senses to listen and joining in with musical instruments.
We had a surprise visitor in the garden – a frog which the children thoroughly enjoyed learning about. They took great care of him!
GREAT GRANDPARENTS!
Halesworth Day Nursery, Halesworth
We’ve been celebrating Grandparents’ Day, which was on 1 October, by hosting some stay and plays!
The children loved having their grandparents come to play. They have been showing them how to pop bubbles and even had a tea party with the ponies!
AUTUMN IS HERE!
The Sloths have been getting in the Autumn spirit! First, they went out on a lovely autumnal walk and collected lots of items for their sensory tray.
They then came back and got stuck into exploring all the different textures and smells.
